Overview

We are looking for a geopolitical risk analyst to join our growing Asia Pacific (APAC) team with a specific focus on China. The APAC team comprises East Asia & Pacific and South Asia specialisms. The role involves detecting, analysing and advising on adverse conditions that could affect the safety, security and operational continuity of our clients. While the role is primarily based in the APAC region, analysts are often tasked with global considerations requiring a broad understanding of intelligence in world affairs. This is a hybrid role requiring to be in our London office once or twice a week.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, research, and write regular analytical reports delivering actionable insight to clients
  • Deliver on-call threat assessments tailored to client requirements
  • Actively monitor regional security incidents to determine potential impact, and maintain awareness of strategic trends to update a global threat assessment scoring system
  • Attend industry standard events and promote Sibylline's reputation
  • Uphold Sibylline company standards, culture, and ethics within the team
Qualifications

  • Strong, demonstrable interest in security and intelligence
  • Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate leadership when required but also collaborate effectively in teams
  • Excellent attention to detail; strong English communication skills
  • Advanced Mandarin
  • Thorough knowledge of political, security, criminal, and governance issues in the APAC region, specifically China, with a strong interest in security and intelligence
  • Excellent research skills, and the ability to rapidly digest, evaluate and sift large quantities of information
  • Ability to provide rigorous, creative insight into complex situations
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced working environment
  • High-level competency with Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience working with large datasets and producing compelling visuals to illustrate analysis
  • Eligible to work in the UK
Nice to have
  • Native regional insight; previous experience living or working in the region, specifically China
  • Master's degree in a related field (e.g., International Relations, Politics, Security)
  • Experience working in intelligence, geopolitical or security-related disciplines (public or private)
  • Timed written assessment to test writing and analytical capability

About the Role

The desk provides and maintains analytical and investigatory services on geopolitical and security developments in the region. You will detect, analyse, and advise on adverse conditions that could affect client safety, security and operational continuity. Conditions include political instability, crime, terrorism, governance risks, hazardous environments and awareness of cyber threats. Although focused on APAC, the role involves tasks of a global nature requiring a broad understanding of intelligence in world affairs. You will research and analyse a wide range of information and produce high-quality analytical reports.
