Overview
Associate Risk Transfer Consultant within our Actuarial Private team, available on a full-time or part-time basis in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, or London. The role focuses on UK defined benefit pension schemes, working with Trustee Boards and Sponsoring Employers, providing high-quality advice on buy-in, market broking, and winding up schemes. This position is suitable for someone nearly or recently qualified looking to develop their actuarial consulting career.

Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects, coordinate relevant teams and client stakeholders, and ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to high standards.
- Coordinate across actuarial, admin, and investment services to maintain standards across all practices.
- Handle a diverse portfolio of work to develop client exposure and essential business skills.
- Prepare client communications, presentations, reports, and attend client meetings.
- Develop project plans and contribute to budget setting.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with clients and third parties.
- Check actuarial calculations, such as reconciliation of cashflows and insurer quotations.
- Support proposition development and new business opportunities.
- Mentor less experienced team members and review their work.
- Ensure timely invoicing and adherence to internal procedures.
- Scope work thoroughly at the outset and communicate relevant information to the wider team.
- Maintain rigorous, accurate, and methodical work standards with comprehensive audit trails.
- Plan work to meet deadlines and track status according to procedures.
- Present work clearly to clients and colleagues; liaise with client managers on conflicting demands.
- Collaborate with colleagues on technical or client issues and record time accurately against client and project codes.
- Adhere to Information Security policies.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and client management skills; strong project management and organizational abilities; effective communication and consulting skills; ability to manage multiple demands; coordination and delegation skills within teams.
- Motivated to develop an actuarial career in a client-focused environment; proactive in developing consultancy and management skills.
- Membership of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (Associate or Fellow) or equivalent; relevant risk transfer and bulk annuity broking experience preferred but not essential.
- Relevant pensions experience and understanding of UK pension scheme legislation, bulk annuity transactions, and buy-out processes.
- Solid grounding in actuarial and computer techniques.
