About

Simon Acres Group are working with a leading independent builders merchant, seeking a Yard Team Leader to support the Assistant Yard Supervisor in overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment.

This is a permanent role paying up to £29,000 PA.

Hours Of Work

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 07:00–16:00

Week 2: Monday to Friday, 07:00–16:00 + Saturday, 08:00–12:00

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the Yard Supervisor in managing the yard team to maintain smooth daily operations, ensure high standards of health and safety, and deliver excellent customer service.

• Supervise yard staff and assist in their daily activities
• Ensure goods are received, checked, and stored correctly
• Support with regular stock takes and inventory checks
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard
• Load/unload vehicles safely (forklift use if certified)
• Help customers locate and load products
• Enforce and promote health & safety procedures
• Assist with training and mentoring junior staff
• Report hazards or maintenance issues
• Cover the Yard Supervisor role during absences
  
  

Ideal Applicant

• The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a builders merchant yard or similar environment, strong knowledge of building materials, a forklift licence (preferred), and excellent teamwork and organisational
