Job summary

BSS Industrial in Glasgow is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of the busy warehouse and coordinate the team, orders and stock to ensure efficient, accurate dispatch.

You will work closely with the Warehouse Manager, Sales Team and Drivers, maintaining high safety and quality standards while adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse, distribution, logistics or transport environment.
• Experience supervising or leading a warehouse team, or taking responsibility for day-to-day activities of a warehouse operation.
• Experience with order control, order processing or warehouse coordination.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with warehouse colleagues, drivers, sales teams and customers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to make practical decisions when issues arise.
• A good understanding of warehouse processes, goods-in and stock control.
• A strong understanding of health and safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining high standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Warehouse Manager with day-to-day running of the warehouse.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads to ensure orders are picked, checked and prepared for dispatch on time.
• Monitor outstanding and priority orders and resolve issues quickly.
• Clarify order requirements with the Sales Team to meet customer expectations.
• Coordinate with drivers to ensure vehicles are loaded and dispatched on schedule.
• Oversee receipt, checking and storage of incoming goods and assist stock control.
• Investigate and resolve issues relating to missing, damaged or incorrect products and escalate as needed.
• Maintain high standards of warehouse organisation, housekeeping and stock accuracy.
• Support training and development of warehouse staff and promote teamwork and customer service.
• Lead by example and uphold health and safety standards, reporting hazards promptly.
• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, order accuracy and delivery efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and keep relevant systems up to date.

Warehouse Supervisor

The Role

As Warehouse Supervisor, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy Glasgow warehouse, supporting the Warehouse Manager in maintaining a safe, efficient and well-organised operation.

You'll be responsible for supervising and supporting the warehouse team, while also taking an active role in order control and the coordination of goods moving through the branch. You'll work closely with the Warehouse Manager, Sales Team and Drivers to ensure customer orders are picked, checked, loaded and dispatched accurately and on time.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, where priorities can change throughout the day. You'll need to be organised, proactive and comfortable making decisions and resolving issues as they arise.

The Warehouse Manager will retain overall responsibility for warehouse, transport and health and safety operations, with the Warehouse Supervisor providing day-to-day leadership and support to the warehouse team and helping to ensure agreed processes and standards are consistently followed.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Warehouse Manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse and provide direction, support and guidance to the warehouse team.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads to ensure customer orders are picked, checked and prepared for dispatch accurately and on time.
• Take responsibility for day-to-day order control, monitoring outstanding and priority orders and ensuring issues are identified and resolved quickly.
• Work closely with the Sales Team to clarify order requirements and ensure customer expectations are met.
• Liaise with drivers and the delivery team to ensure vehicles are loaded correctly and dispatched on schedule.
• Oversee the receipt, checking and storage of incoming goods and support effective stock control.
• Investigate and resolve issues relating to missing, damaged or incorrect products and elevate significant issues to the Warehouse Manager.
• Maintain high standards of warehouse organisation, housekeeping and stock accuracy.
• Support the training and development of warehouse colleagues and promote a positive culture of teamwork, accountability and customer service.
• Lead by example and support the Warehouse Manager in maintaining the branch's high health and safety standards, ensuring safe working practices are followed, and hazards, near misses and incidents are reported promptly.
• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, order accuracy and delivery efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure relevant systems are kept up to date.

Experience within builders' merchants, plumbing and heating, industrial distribution, wholesale or a similar environment would be advantageous. Experience with ERP, warehouse management or order control systems would also be beneficial, although full training will be provided on BSS systems and processes.
