Our client, a global Customer Communications company is looking for a full-time Assistant VAT Accountant to be based in their London or Huntingdon office.

As the Assistant VAT Accountant, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to VAT reporting and compliance for operations in Europe.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly EU VAT returns, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Perform monthly EU balance sheet reconciliations through a systematic certification process.
  • Execute precise accounting journal entries associated with VAT returns.
  • Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate VAT corrections and guarantee precise transaction processing.
  • Support the VAT compliance manager by responding to queries from external tax advisors and assisting with audit requests.

Required skills :

  • Proficiency in Excel and general IT skills to navigate through complex data with ease.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational abilities, ready to tackle multiple tasks and meet stringent deadlines.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering work of the highest standard.
  • Excellent communication skills, fostering strong relationships within the team and with external contacts.

This role would be ideal for a recent finance graduate (2023/24), eager to delve into the VAT domain or someone with prior experience in VAT or indirect tax.

This is a hybrid role that is primarily located in the London or Huntingdon office with flexibility for some remote work or fully remote outside of London for the right candidate.
