Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP is seeking an Assistant Utility Surveyor to join our Geospatial team. You will support senior surveyors in locating and documenting underground utilities, blending fieldwork with data collection on diverse sites across the UK.

Based in Birmingham, this role offers training to become a fully trained Utility Surveyor, with exposure to large-scale residential, industrial, and commercial schemes and opportunities to work on overseas projects.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Good physical fitness and willingness to travel and work outdoors.
• Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
• Desire to learn and progress within surveying.

Responsibilities

• Assist in locating and marking underground utilities using detection equipment.
• Support setup and operation of survey instruments (GPS, total stations, GPR).
• Collect and record accurate data on utility assets and site conditions.
• Interpret utility drawings to aid survey accuracy.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safe on‑site practices.
• Help prepare survey reports and client documentation.
• Communicate with team members and site personnel.
• Follow health and safety protocols.
