Job description

The CHUBB Middle Market Property & Package team underwrite business for customers with a turnover typically up to $500m. The team operate out of the CHUBB London office and write business in both the UK and Multinational sectors. Continuing profitable growth is a key priority for the business, with a focus on aligning the changing needs and wants of customers with sound underwriting judgement and risk selection.

With dedicated market leading performance, the Middle Market Property & Package team is primed for further growth and we are now seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join the team. This is a key role which supports the team in delivering a high-quality service to our underwriters and brokers whilst developing technical and broader business skills in the Insurance Industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the underwriting and processing of new and renewable Property business in line with our underwriting appetite, authority limits and business plan.
  • Work in conjunction with the team to ensure efficient working practices are in place and adhered to as per established package underwriting guidelines.
  • Support the underwriting team through liaison with and participation at meetings with brokers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide assistance to UKI Management for building, running and monitoring exposure reports.
  • Meet company standards in respect of policy documentation, timeframe for quoting new and renewal business and compliance issues.
  • Work within the framework of the Chubb Code of Conduct, Compliance policies, Peer Review and within the framework of the protocols established by the Company.
Qualifications
  • Experience in the insurance market is required.
  • Demonstrate a practical and common sense approach to dealing with differing situations and an ability to tackle problems often against tight timeframes.
  • Interest in Multinational programs.
  • Minimum A level standard.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Expected to undertake “on the job” training, which may involve working in other Chubb offices.
