Assistant Underwriter - Property
Stafford

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter to join our Property team at Stafford.

The Assistant Underwriter will underwrite business and support the Underwriting team in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority.

Your new role

  • To provide efficient and effective, technical, and general Underwriting support to the team.
  • Contribute to recording and measurement of insurance risks to ensure accuracy, good practice, and adherence to relevant performance standards.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, extended service team, customers, and brokers to be able to work collaboratively.
  • Ensure accurate underwriting data is captured on systems to minimise risk and ensure high quality output of information.
  • Complete foundation Underwriting tasks in support of Senior Members of the team.
  • Prepare documents to ensure that appropriate records are established, and accuracy of records is maintained.
  • Assist with the production of management information statistics and reports to support the business planning process.

About you

  • Experience within the insurance industry, preferably property/commercial, whether that’s underwriting, claims, operational or related areas.
  • Clear organisational and prioritisation skills coupled with good analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving skills – demonstrates tenacity in handling and resolving queries.
  • Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages.
