Job summary

Bruin in London is hiring an Assistant Underwriter to join the Portfolio Solutions team. The role offers exposure beyond a single-class underwriting job, with involvement across Delegated Authority, Treaty and portfolio management through broker facilities and Lloyd's consortia.

Assistant Underwriter - Portfolio Solutions | Lloyd's Market

I'm working with a highly regarded Lloyd's insurer that is looking to add an Assistant Underwriter to its Portfolio Solutions team.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for somebody in the earlier stages of their underwriting career who wants exposure beyond a traditional single-class underwriting role.

The team operates across Delegated Authority, Treaty and portfolio management, supporting a diverse portfolio of business written through broker facilities, Lloyd's consortia, MGAs and reinsurance arrangements, with exposure across Property, Casualty, Specialty and multi-line risks.

Working closely with experienced Underwriters, you'll support across:

• New and renewal underwriting
• Delegated Authority and Treaty business
• Portfolio performance management and reporting
• Reviewing and maintaining underwriting information
• Broker and client interaction
• Internal liaison with Claims, Credit Control, Underwriting Risk and other teams
• Identifying and supporting new business opportunities
• The broader administration and management of the portfolio

The business is looking for somebody who has already gained some experience within the London Market or wider insurance/reinsurance sector, ideally within underwriting or a closely related technical role.

Experience within Delegated Authority, Treaty or portfolio underwriting would be advantageous, but equally important will be strong analytical ability, attention to detail, commercial awareness and a genuine desire to develop as an Underwriter.

You'll be joining a small and collaborative team where you'll gain exposure to both the underwriting and portfolio management sides of the business, with plenty of opportunity to take on greater responsibility as you develop.
