Job summary

Pen Underwriting is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join the Household and Personal Lines team in Liphook. You will support underwriting of new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments while building relationships with brokers and contributing to portfolio analysis.

Based in Liphook with a flexible hybrid pattern, you will develop technical expertise, work with experienced underwriters, and have opportunities for professional qualifications and career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in insurance underwriting or broking is required or beneficial.
• Household/personal lines experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; good communication and relationship-building skills.
• Analytical mindset with comfort working with data and information.
• Solid organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Support underwriting of new business, renewals, mid-term adjustments and cancellations.
• Review risks, prepare documentation and assist with underwriting decisions.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers for a professional service.
• Assist with portfolio monitoring, reporting and data analysis to aid performance.
• Identify trends, anomalies and emerging risks; escalate as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure underwriting and regulatory compliance.
