Job Description – Assistant Underwriter

Overview

  • Will be part of a growing business.
  • For the right person we would expect a senior underwriter position to be the next step and we will support through training to accomplish this.
  • Underwriting duties would include researching the financial results and performance of the companies being covered under our policies so the ability to work independently is essential.

Duties

  • Review applications: review applications for accuracy and completeness and identify missing documents.
  • Evaluate risks: evaluate financial information, market knowledge and IPP’s specialist knowledge to assist in calculating policy terms and conditions.
  • Process applications: process applications, endorsements, cancellations, quotations and underwriting documentation.
  • Issue policies: issue policies and ensure compliance with all internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide customer service: respond to policyholder and broker enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Prepare reports: prepare underwriting reports on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Maintain databases: update and maintain databases in liaison with the underwriter and data analyst.

Skills Required

  • High level of Excel, Word, numeracy and literacy required.
  • Attention to detail and an analytical mind.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with large corporate global businesses.

Other

  • Will be working in a team of 12 people in what was an entrepreneurial business that has now been acquired by the largest global MGA.
  • IPP is a standalone business in Dual and has a location in West Wickham therefore the ability to liaise and support co-workers is essential.
