About the role

Assistant Transport Team Manager - Night Shift

We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive Assistant Transport Team Manager to join our Night Team at the Harlow Distribution Centre, working a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern from 6:00pm to 6:00am.

In this important role, you’ll support the Transport Team Managers in coordinating all aspects of night-time transport operations, ensuring our drivers, schedules, and processes run efficiently to keep our fast-paced distribution network moving smoothly.

Your Impact and Responsibilities

As an Assistant Transport Team Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our transport function operates effectively, safely, and efficiently. You will:

• Support the Transport Team Manager with planning tasks across daily transport activity.
• Manage and monitor driver dispatch in line with the Transport Daily Plan.
• Conduct driver debriefs, ensuring accurate feedback and reporting.
• Analyse driver hours and ensure accurate journey time recording.
• Complete the Driver Delivery Schedule daily, recording journey hours, duty hours, fuel usage, and trunk information.
• Manage people processes including return-to-work interviews and workplace investigations, in line with company procedures.
• Provide reliable cover for the Transport Team Manager during periods of absence, including annual leave.

Skills and Knowledge

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-moving logistics environment and can adapt quickly to change. You will need:

• Previous experience within a transport or logistics environment is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Motivated and proactive with a positive approach to problem-solving.
• IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
