Assistant Transport Manager

Salary – £34,520 - £43,151 per annum (plus benefits)

Hours – Full-time, Monday to Friday

Location – Willerby, East Yorkshire

As an Assistant Transport Manager at FCC Environment, you will support the operation of the Wastewise Fleet, including Walking Floor and Hook Loader vehicles, to ensure safe, cost-effective and compliant haulage services. You will work closely with the Transport Manager and be responsible for day-to-day transport compliance, operational efficiency, and fleet coordination.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

- Assisting with legal, safe and efficient transport operations across the Wastewise Fleet

- Ensuring compliance with Operator Licence requirements, including driver hours, tachograph management and vehicle inspections

- Supporting the management of maintenance records and driver licensing via digital platforms (e.g. Asset Go)

- Coordinating with internal teams and external haulage providers to meet collection schedules

- Supporting driver management including operational queries, training, and investigations

- Monitoring transport KPIs and identifying areas for performance improvement

- Supporting the implementation of vehicle systems, operational updates and new technologies

- Assisting with third-party haulage arrangements and ad-hoc transport needs

- Promoting high standards of safety, efficiency and corporate image in all transport-related activities

What are we looking for?

- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above)

- Proficiency in IT systems

- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – or working towards

- Knowledge of fleet maintenance in a municipal or commercial setting

- Strong organisation, communication and interpersonal skills

- Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple priorities

- Good understanding of transport compliance and willingness to learn new systems and legislation

- A proactive, polite and confident team player who values safety and service
