Assistant Town Planner - Birmingham

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning consultancy in their search for an Assistant Town Planner to join their team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career planner to gain hands-on experience and develop a rewarding career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

As an Assistant Town Planner, you will:

  • Support the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
  • Assist with site appraisals, planning research, and policy analysis.
  • Draft planning statements, reports, and supporting documents.
  • Engage with local authorities, stakeholders, and communities as part of the planning process.
  • Work closely with senior colleagues to gain exposure to a wide range of projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors.
About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited preferred).
  • A genuine interest in UK planning, development, and policy.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic attitude and the ability to work as part of a team.
