Role Summary
  • The Assistant Technical Officer will work under the direction of the team leader and unit co-ordinator, assisting in the daily cleaning, care, and maintenance of all endoscopes and related equipment, ensuring their safe and efficient use.
  • Collaborate with Theatres, wards, and departments to provide a flexible and responsive service that meets patient and Trust needs.
  • Follow safe systems at all times across all production areas to support patient and staff safety.
  • Deliver and collect medical pathology samples and supplies.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for Band 2 Assistant Technical Officers interested in a career in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.

We are opening a new purpose-built Endoscopy Unit at Tiverton and District Hospital, featuring three procedure rooms for diagnostic endoscopic procedures. The unit will have its own dedicated on-site decontamination suite, where Assistant Technical Officers will support the provision of decontaminated endoscopes for patients.

We seek highly motivated and adaptable individuals committed to providing the highest standards of patient care.

Working Pattern: 19 hours per week, with two shifts from 08:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday.

Interview Date: To be confirmed.

Pay: The salary reflects the Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, including a 3.6% pay award to be implemented later this year. If you join before the implementation, the pay increase will be backdated to your start date. Until then, remuneration is based on 2024/5 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2024/25 | NHS Employers).
