Job description

Full or Part time hours available

Two opportunities have arisen within the Cardio, Respiratory and Vascular Department (CRV) at The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for an Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) with working hours of 37.5 and 30 hours per week to support the provision of our 5-day service.

This role includes working in both Outpatient and Inpatient settings, with shifts rotated throughout the week to ensure workload distribution and service provision are maintained.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform routine and non-routine procedures, including ECGs and ambulatory monitoring, with skills developed through external and in-house training to NVQ3 level. Ensure ECG placements are accurate and procedures follow SCST guidelines.
  2. Maintain accurate patient records in electronic and written formats. Submit and manage activity data according to trust and departmental policies.
  3. Be aware of necessary adaptations for tests, such as performing ECGs on paediatrics versus adults. Use judgment to escalate issues to senior staff when needed.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust collaborates within the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership, operating from three locations:

  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: 438 general and acute beds
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: 56 beds for rehabilitation, intermediate, and outpatient services
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: community services for the local rural population

The Trust employs over 5,916 staff, providing emergency, elective, primary care, and obstetric services to approximately 411,000 residents in Chester, West Cheshire, Ellesmere Port, Neston, and parts of Flintshire.
