Job description

Scantec Recruitment is working with a leading FMCG Food Manufacturing business near Stirling to assist in their search for an Assistant Technical Manager. They are one of Europe's leading consumer food producers, specializing in supplying and developing award-winning products for retail, food service, and wholesale customers worldwide. Assistant Technical Manager - role summary:
  1. Provide support and guidance on technical excellence, liaising with departments to drive improvements in product quality and food safety standards.
  2. Develop and maintain the Quality Management Plan (QMS) and HACCP systems, promoting adherence to Quality, Food Safety, GMP, and HACCP standards.
  3. Manage internal and external audits, conduct supplier compliance inspections, perform root cause analysis on non-conformances, and ensure corrective actions are followed up.
  4. Maintain strong relationships with customers and Competent Authorities, and manage contractors such as pest control.
  5. Investigate and respond to customer complaints, perform trend analysis for complaints and KPIs, and act on adverse trends.
  6. Maintain systems for checking, validating, and verifying process compliance, ensuring QA & QC functions meet requirements.
  7. Ensure production complies with quality and legal standards, including weights & measures, for relevant UK and export customers.
  8. Manage the QA and QC team, ensuring timely completion of tasks, attendance, and addressing any issues.
  9. Identify and facilitate training and development needs within the QA and QC team, delivering food safety/quality training as required.
  10. Participate actively in OPEX initiatives to drive continuous improvement across the site.
  11. Deputize for the site Technical Manager and Technical Admin when needed.
The ideal skills and experience:

We are seeking an experienced Quality/Technical professional with a background in food manufacturing. The candidate should be able to influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. Ideally, candidates will hold a Level 3 qualification in HACCP and Food Safety, along with Internal Auditing certification.
