Job Introduction

Assistant Team Manager

BCP Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Team Manager to join our team. We are proud to have achieved a GOOD rating from Ofsted, reflecting our commitment to providing excellent care and support for children and families.

We are looking for experienced Assistant Team Managers from Children Social Care or aspiring senior Social Workers, with management and supervisory experience, to join our MASH Team and help us achieve our vision for children, young people, and families in Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council.

You must be a registered social worker with Social Work England and have significant post-qualifying experience working with children and families in the statutory sector.

Our Children's Service Directorate adopts a systemic approach to practice, placing children and their voices at the heart of our work. You will ensure this approach is embedded within your team, demonstrate strong assessment and analytical skills, and work effectively within a management team.

Brief description of the team (MASH):

Our Goal: To ensure every child receives the right support at the right time and is safeguarded from harm.

Our work: Referrals are triaged, assessed, and transferred to appropriate teams and services. This requires professionalism and agile management oversight — team managers oversee contacts daily and authorize significant decisions for children in need or at risk.

Our location: Hybrid working based at Poole Police Station alongside other multi-agency professionals, with remote work options.

What we can offer you:
  • Full induction with supportive Practice Fundamentals
  • Clear career progression and learning opportunities
  • Regular supervision
  • 25 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus bank holidays
  • Competitive salary with access to the local government pension scheme
  • Flexible working arrangements at our refurbished Civic and Local Offices
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Relocation Scheme
  • Staff network groups

Additional Requirements: All applicants must have full Right to Work in the UK without sponsorship.

If you are a registered social worker interested in this opportunity, we want to hear from you.
