About the Opportunity

In July 2024, the Department for Education announced the Families First for Children Pathfinder. Dorset has been selected as one of only three initial pathfinder sites nationally, testing key reforms in children’s services. This initiative comes with central government funding and support, reflecting our ambition and commitment.

Our focus is on supporting families to meet their children’s needs and keeping children at home where it is safe to do so. You will work with children, families, and partners in a role that inspires professional and personal growth.

Team Structure

We have developed multi-agency locality teams, bringing together colleagues from Early Help, Children's Social Care, Educational Psychology, SEND, and Inclusion services, led by Heads of Locality and Strategy.

Role: Assistant Team Manager (Family Help) - North Locality

We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join us in this leadership role, where you will make a real difference in the lives of children and young people in our beautiful county.

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience managing, appraising, and supervising staff
  • Experience in Child in Need case supervision and mentoring
  • Ability to handle complex case work
  • Capability to manage and chair meetings
  • Leadership in practice development and acting as Lead Child Protection Practitioner
