Assistant Tax & Treasury Accountant
Salary: GBP34,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

The Role

Based at Head Office, you will report to the Tax & Treasury Accountant. This is a newly created position within the Financial Control and Compliance Team, forming part of a centre of expertise in the organisation.

You will support the Tax & Treasury Accountant in managing investments and cashflows, submitting tax returns, overseeing treasury and banking operations, and providing expert advice when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee day-to-day banking and treasury functions
  2. Manage funds held in the bank and investment accounts
  3. Prepare monthly VAT returns for the Group, ensuring full compliance
  4. Produce monthly cashflows and forecasts
  5. Perform reconciliations, including investment funds for the organisation and its subsidiaries
  6. Provide expert advice to identify potential tax savings and opportunities
  7. Offer guidance on global tax legislation and compliance
  8. Ensure compliance with Overseas and Global Taxation rules, liaising with HMRC and other relevant bodies
  9. Collate data for year-end tax returns
  10. Support preparation of pension returns
  11. Administer Endowments and Trust Funds
  12. Liaise with internal and external auditors as required
  13. Represent the organisation at external forums
  14. Collaborate with operational teams and senior managers to ensure finance is integrated into strategic planning and decision-making

Who We’re Looking For:

  1. AAT qualified or early-stage ACCA student
  2. Self-motivated and working towards becoming a qualified accountant
  3. Ambitious with a desire to learn and grow within the organisation
  4. Proven experience in finance, ideally within tax and treasury functions
  5. Business-focused, with a problem-solving mindset
  6. Experience preparing VAT returns and cashflow reporting (essential)
