Opportunity: Assistant Tax Manager
Location: London Bridge, with agile working policy
Salary: up to £64,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

We’re expanding and looking for an Assistant Tax Manager to join our Finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your career in tax within a diverse and interesting group with a strong social purpose. You’ll work closely with our Group tax Manager, finance leaders and senior management throughout the group, covering all aspects of tax.

Your Role as Assistant Tax Manager
Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, you’ll be responsible for preparing and analysing tax returns across the Group. You’ll also support tax compliance and contribute to the Group’s financial statements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing tax returns for review, including:
    • Corporation Tax
    • Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR)
    • VAT
    • Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
    • Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED)
    • Partnership Tax Returns
    • Sinking Fund Trust and Estate Returns
    • CITB Levy
  • Reviewing SDLT returns submitted by external legal advisers
  • Verifying supplier CIS status and managing submissions
  • Supporting the submission of the Group’s tax strategy
  • Updating transfer pricing documentation
  • Preparing and updating Senior Accounting Officer documentation
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Arranging gift aid board paper and payments
  • Reconciling and analysing data for tax disclosures in the Group’s financial statements
  • Working on tax aspects of various ad hoc projects

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a proactive and technically confident accountant who wants to develop their tax skills and experience, with strong communication skills and a collaborative and inquisitive mindset. You’ll need to balance detailed compliance work with strategic insight, working with stakeholders across the business.

Essential:

  • Strong technical skills and keen attention to detail
  • Some knowledge and understanding of UK tax legislation
  • Some experience of preparing and submitting a wide range of tax returns
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent Excel skills and financial systems literacy
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and external advisers
  • Experience reconciling and preparing tax data for financial statements
  • Qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA/CIMA

Desirable:

  • Experience in the housing, construction, or real estate sectors
  • CTA studying or part qualified
