The Opportunity

The Analytics & Advisory (A&A) team are part of the Consulting business responsible for leading innovation through data and technology to enhance our clients' business operations and processes. We allow clients to derive insights and improve decision-making through the implementation of digital data acquisition solutions and systems integration of their operational technology assets.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Systems Engineer to support the growth and development of new workstreams in the Operational Technology market. As an Assistant Systems Engineer, you will work with a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, high-profile clients, and external contractors therefore good communication and people skills are essential. You will be reporting to the Senior / Principal Engineers.

The role:

A&A uses a flexible and agile approach to design engineering and are enthusiastic about the use of new technologies. As an AssistantSystems Engineer with us, you will develop and deliver solutions to meet and exceed client's expectations integrating technology and innovation.

No professional experience or qualification is required for this role but you will need some pre-existing interest and some personal exploration into any of the following engineering fields; networking technologies, Cyber Security, SCADA, CCTV Systems, Alarm/Access Control Systems or Public Address.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to establish requirements
  • Evaluating appropriate technologies and producing option reports with recommendations
  • Communicate proactively with other team members to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions and unblock technical issues
  • Developing designs in accordance with client's requirements and relevant design standards to achieve cost effective solutions.
What you will bring to us:

  • Strong academic background in an engineering discipline (or equivalent portfolio/work experience)
  • Strong analytical skills and be able to apply more creative and abstract thinking to help develop solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely
  • Adaptable, able to think on your feet and for yourself, able to pick up new areas quickly
  • Strong technical understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, including:
  • Requirements management
  • System design processes (system and sub-system specification)
  • Product validation and verification.
Desirable:

  • Computer literate and conversant with AutoCAD or Microstation
  • Experience of requirements gathering and documenting design using an industry standard design methodology
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer through IET or BSC, or working towards
  • Experience in the rail, highways or utilities industry
