Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking an Assistant Streetworks Technician to support the safe management of our road network. You will plan workloads, carry out inspections, identify non-compliance issues, input data, and produce reports, with full training provided.

This entry-to-mid level role offers development pathways, flexible working options, and a supportive team focused on continuous improvement and high standards for highways and streetworks across the county.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Network Strategy and Management team as an Assistant Streetworks Technician, supporting the safe and efficient management of Buckinghamshire's road network. You'll play a key role in ensuring streetworks are carried out safely, legally and to a high standard, helping keep our county moving. Whether you're early in your career or looking for progression, this career grade role provides clear development pathways supported by training, guidance and hands‑on experience.

• Plan and organise your workload to support the delivery of inspections across the county.
• Carry out sample, routine and core inspections in line with legislation and service priorities.

• Support Streetworks Technicians and the wider team in delivering service improvements.

Our Communities directorate works across the county to deliver a number of the key customer-facing services that our residents, businesses and visitors rely on every day.

This directorate includes a wide range of services, including:

• collecting and disposing of waste and recycling
• maintaining our roads and Rights of Way network and parking
• ensuring the delivery of school transport, and supporting sustainable travel including public bus services and School Crossing Patrollers
• managing Country Parks
• leisure facilities, museums, theatres and libraries, as well as developing our Cultural Strategy
• Licensing, Environmental Health and Trading Standards
• Cemeteries and Crematoria
