Assistant Store Manager - London Based

The Assistant Store Manager partners with and supports the Store Manager in all aspects of store functions: Sales Generation, People Development, Operations and Visual Merchandising.

The Assistant Store Manager's focus is to lead and guide through effective communication, training, coaching, and developing all Sales Supervisors, Sales, and Support Associates in the moment and on the sales floor or in the stock room. The Assistant Store Manager is also responsible for generating his or her own percentage of sales. The Assistant Store Manager must be proficient in performing and training all POS transactions, dealing with customer service issues, opening and closing the store, all operational practices, and visual merchandising standards.

Job responsibilities:

Sales Generation

  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and sales figures daily.
  • Establish daily objectives during morning meetings.
  • Exemplify excellence in sales engagement processes.
  • Motivate team drive towards meeting goals.
  • Develop data collection and ensure data accuracy.
  • Train staff members to build customer loyalty proactively.
  • Guide team members on expanding client base through personalized interactions.

Operations

  • Implement comprehensive knowledge of Store Operation procedures.
  • Oversee all administrative operational tasks (including stock management and cashier functions).
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness as well as overall maintenance are met consistently.
  • Coordinate rolling inventory checks along with annual fiscal inventory.

Visual Merchandising

  • Consistently maintain the visuals guidelines and standards of presentation.
  • Set an example regarding presentation standards and personal grooming. Ensure the team adheres to Brand representation expectations (uniform policy, grooming standards).
  • Communicate to the Head Office team qualitative and proactive feedback on products & visual merchandising to drive results

People Development

Manage Performance:

  • Regularly assess performance against specific daily/monthly benchmarks (sales, customer data capture, product knowledge).
  • Cultivate a team environment that promotes collaboration and initiative-taking.
  • Value/reward performance and manage under-performance with constant feedback.

Develop skills & competencies:

  • Coach in the moment.
  • Collaborate with HR on any other development actions needed.
  • Identify potential succession plans within the retail establishment.

Communicate the Brand Strategy:

  • Communicate upcoming events, store openings, key figures of the company to your team.
  • Adress any inquiries your team has about company objectives or strategic direction.

Encourage awareness and insight into local competitors' activities including new retail ventures or cultural happenings such as art events or dining establishments

Profile & Experience:

  • Experience in a managerial retail role in a store/boutique setting
  • Keen interest in culture and art
  • Strong knowledge of fashion and trends
  • Experience with client outreach and maintaining a client book
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Outstanding sense of customer service, sense of initiative and commercial creativity with fashion sensitivity
  • Strong understanding of retail store operations and concept
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Fluency in English (essential) and in a second language (preferred)
