This is an acclaimed fine dining restaurant in the picturesque town of Dorking, known for its innovative cuisine and exceptional service. Our wine program is an integral part of the dining experience, carefully curated to complement our seasonal menu. We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to join our team and support our Head Sommelier in delivering an outstanding wine experience to our guests.
As an Assistant Sommelier you will work closely with our Head Sommelier to manage the restaurant’s wine service. You will be responsible for helping guests select wines that enhance their dining experience, maintaining the wine cellar, and assisting in the development of our wine list. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Sommelier in curating and maintaining the wine list.
- Provide knowledgeable wine recommendations and pairings to guests.
- Serve wine with precision and care, ensuring optimal presentation.
- Assist in the management and organization of the wine cellar, including inventory control.
- Support the Head Sommelier in conducting wine tastings and staff training sessions.
- Stay informed about wine trends and new releases to keep the wine list fresh and exciting.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to create seamless food and wine pairings.
- Uphold the highest standards of customer service and ensure a memorable dining experience for all guests.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role or extensive knowledge of wines and wine service.
- WSET Level 2 or equivalent wine certification is preferred.
- Passion for wine and a desire to expand your knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
