Job summary

Henry Martin Group is seeking an Assistant Site Manager for a £38m+ new-build education project in Essex. The role involves supporting day-to-day delivery, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining safety, and ensuring work aligns with the programme and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience as an Assistant Site Manager on education or public-sector schemes, strong sequencing knowledge, and excellent communication. SMSTS/CSCS/First Aid are desirable qualifications.

Qualifications

• Experience on new-build projects in education, healthcare, commercial or public sector.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and subcontractor coordination.
• Solid knowledge of health and safety procedures and quality control.

• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

Assistant Site Manager New-Build Education Project

Location: Essex
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Site Manager to join a £38m+ new-build education project in Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major construction project delivering a purpose-built specialist school, providing modern educational and therapeutic facilities within a high-quality built environment.

The Project

The development comprises a new-build, part single-storey and part two-storey school, incorporating approximately 6,300m of internal floor space.

The works include:

• Construction of a new specialist education facility.

• Traditional brickwork, rainscreen cladding and glazed façade elements.

• Specialist classrooms, therapy rooms, dining facilities and sports areas.

• Mechanical and electrical installations throughout.

• External works, landscaping, access roads, parking and outdoor sports facilities.

The Role Assistant Site Manager

Working alongside the senior site team, you will support the day-to-day delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, to programme and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the management and coordination of subcontractors on site.
