Job Description:

Are you looking for your next challenge within Arcus? We're excited to open up a new development opportunity for a Shutters & Gates Engineer within our Mobile Delivery Team - as part of our new Develop initiative. This traineeship role is a perfect fit for those who want to add to their skillset and progress into a S&G role.

What You'll Be Doing:

Initially, you will be enrolled on a 12-month programme which will provide training on several key elements within S&G. Through a mixture of on-the-job, practical and theoretical learning, you will develop the essential skills required to be a safe, productive and successful S&G Engineer.

Please note that the majority of the learning will take place at the National Training Centre in Stevenage, therefore regular travel into Stevenage (including occasional overnight stays) will be required of the successful colleagues.

Following the learning period, your final assessment/portfolio will be scored by your mentor/technical trainer - who will then determine whether or not you have passed the course.

Once you have passed, will be integrated as a key member of the S&G team in your area, you'll be responsible for carrying out planned auto door and industrial door maintenance tasks across a defined portfolio of sites. You'll ensure all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in line with our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Your Accountabilities Will Include:

  • Completing all scheduled S&G tasks and associated paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supporting reactive maintenance activities while on site, where experience and skillset allow.
  • Ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards, escalating hazards and near-misses via Arcus systems.
  • Using Arcus Aeromark system to manage your daily activities effectively and ensure SLA targets are consistently met.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by working flexibly to reduce travel time and improve task completion rates.
  • Developing professionally through exposure to varied tasks and structured support from mentors and team members.

What You'll Bring:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Specific Qualifications:

  • A Good standard of education to GSCE or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance experience.
  • Hand and Tool Skills.
  • A full driving License.
  • To be IT literate.
  • Understanding Health and Safety systems and best practices.
  • Awareness of budgeting of parts and material usage.

Skills Competence

  • Ability to learn to support the maintenance and repair of a complex working environment whilst complying with all Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Ability to work supervised in a pressurised environment dealing with the Client and Customers.
  • Ability to work supervised in a pressurised environment dealing with sales floors, plant rooms and offices.
  • Committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • To represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and develop a good working relationship with colleagues and customers.
  • To ensure effective written and verbal communication of all critical corporate and operational technical issues within the site.
  • Capable of prioritising a complex and demanding workload.
  • The nature of the job requires the job holder to climb ladders, work in confined spaces etc. and there a degree of personal fitness is required.
  • To be reliable and manage their time keeping.
