Retail Assistant Manager

£12.67 - £14.77 plus benefits

Reports to: Shop manager

Department: Trading

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: Part time 15 hours per week

Location: Bellshill Shop

About Cancer Research UK: We exist to beat cancer. We are professionals with purpose, but we need to go much further and faster. We're looking for a talented individual to join our trading team as an Assistant Shop Manager, acting as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, supporting the shop manager and team to maximize income through people, resources, and stock.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the shop manager to lead, inspire, and engage a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers.
  • Supporting the commercial operation of the store, including display, merchandising, stock management, and maintaining shop standards.
  • Leading by example and providing excellent customer and supporter service.
  • Working with the shop manager to achieve targets for donated stock, cash, gift aid, and sales metrics.
  • Building relationships with the local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues.
  • Supporting the organization and delivery of fundraising events to meet targets.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration, and HR policies.
  • Deputizing for the shop manager in their absence.
  • Performing manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.
Candidate requirements:
  • Knowledge of excellent customer service standards.
  • Experience in a lively, vibrant environment.
  • Adaptability and ability to work independently.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis, balancing work and personal life.
