A leading UK healthcare provider in Sheffield seeks an Assistant Service Manager for the Department of Medicine for Older People. This role supports day-to-day operations, ensuring performance targets are met and assisting in staff management. Candidates should have strong skills in Excel and knowledge of NHS standards. This position involves collaboration with the Service Manager to optimize service delivery and staffing.
We have an exciting opportunity for the role of Assistant Service Manager of the Department of Medicine for Older People (DMOP) within the Integrated Medicine Division. The post holder will be responsible for support of day-to-day operational management of the departments of DMOP.
You will be required to support the Service Manager in the delivery of all performance targets, including waiting time targets, contracted activity levels, finance, standards and quality of services, and overseeing daily escalations to the operational team. The post-holder will be required to possess Intermediate Excel skills to include more advanced formulas and functions like INDEX, SUM, AVERAGE, and IFSTATEMENTS for efficient use of spreadsheets. The post-holder will use their knowledge of NHS performance targets. The post holder will work closely with the Service Manager to understand the detail of service priorities/plans and how they would be expected to impact activity volumes. The post-holder will use analytical skills, combined with in-depth operational knowledge, to develop these service priorities into detailed activity and capacity adjustments.
You will be required to support the overseeing of the doctors 24/7 staffing rota and be responsible for the timely recruitment of junior doctors, as well as line management of Patient pathway coordinators, ward clerks and team leader.
