A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Assistant Service Manager (Full-Time 37.5 hrs) shared between our service in Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career with support to develop, or for someone who is looking to get stuck into a new challenge.

The role of the ASM will be to mentor and manage a tight team of Support Workers as well as ensuring the smooth running of the service alongside the Service Manager.

You will be required to work flexibly across the week to ensure that management support is available across site, alongside the rest of the management team.

You will need to be confident enough to lead, support and direct staff and flourish in a management role.

We are looking for someone who:

  3. Has strong organisational skills and time keeping
  4. Will be an advocate for people with a learning disability
  5. Is approachable and able to support their team

This role will include:

  1. Supporting the Service Manager by undertaking agreed management tasks.
  2. Supporting and developing the staff team.
  3. Promoting a team culture where the team are confident in being accountable and making decisions.
  4. Supporting the team to be compliant in their induction and training.
  5. Undertaking effective and agreed My Mencap Journey reviews for team members.
  6. Leading on the review and implementation of support planning, risk assessment and evidence outcome-based support.
  7. Contributing to and overseeing systems and records that support health and safety and maintenance of service environment as required.
  8. Contributing to the monitoring and completion of management reporting systems.
  9. Contributing to monitoring and completion of administration systems such as reviewing time sheets and inputting information into Office Base (kinetic) systems and invoice systems.
  10. To be confident in being able to work using a computer and electronic systems.
  11. You will be required to demonstrate that you have developed enough skills and knowledge to be able to progress to a future Service Manager role.

The post will be off rota; however, there is an expectation to work flexibly including working evenings and weekends.
