Qualifications

  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and/or behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team is preferred.
  • Good IT and business-systems skills are required.
  • Ability to manage time and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Service Manager to lead and develop the staff team.
  • Act as Service Manager in their absence.
  • Oversee recruitment and staff management.
  • Plan rosters and manage training allocations.
  • Ensure person-centred planning for service users.
  • Maintain policies and procedures for safe practice.
  • Participate in on-call or sleep-in rota as necessary.

We are a values-driven social care provider specialising in support for adults with learning disabilities, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge. Our service supports a small number of adults (approx. 5) in a community setting where independence, social inclusion and meaningful lives are actively encouraged.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Service Manager to join the team and support the Service Manager in leading the service. Key responsibilities include :

  • Supporting the Service Manager to lead, develop and motivate the staff team
  • Acting as the Service Manager in their absence
  • Recruitment, staff supervision, training and performance management
  • Rota planning, managing annual leave, sickness and training allocation
  • Ensuring person-centred planning and bespoke support for the people living at the service
  • Working with management information to inform decisions and drive a solutions-led culture
  • Maintaining and embedding policies and procedures; ensuring safe, consistent practice
  • Being part of the on‑call / sleep‑in rota, as required
About You

You will be a social care professional who :

  • Has experience working with adults with learning disabilities and / or behaviours that challenge
  • Has led or supervised a small-to-medium sized team (or willing to train)
  • Has good IT and business-systems skills
  • Can manage your own time, work under pressure, and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Has a full UK driving licence (essential)
