Job description

Come and make a real difference: due to an internal promotion, we are now on the lookout for our next Assistant Service Manager to help make everyday remarkable for our friendly team in Henllan near Denbigh.

We have a 4-bedroom bungalow with 4 residents, 2 of which are nonverbal, 1 suffers with epilepsy, and all have complex needs. This role will involve supporting the Service Manager to manage the service and our colleagues, which includes finance checks, medication checks, rotas, protocols, supporting staff daily planners to follow our policies and procedures, etc.

To do this successfully, you'll be visible in the day-to-day operation of the service, supporting duties in line with the requirements of the people we support. You'll be working shifts on a rota basis, which includes sleep ins. In the absence of the Service Manager, you'll have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the service. This will involve providing leadership and management to the team, monitoring performance, carrying out one-to-one's and appraisals, and holding team meetings.

You'll enjoy building positive relationships with all stakeholders and put our vision and values into action to deliver a first-class service. Above all else, your focus will be on achieving the highest levels of independence for the people we support, and on organizing and modeling that support in an innovative, person-centered, and flexible way to make everyday remarkable.

Please note that personal care is involved in this role.

Who we are looking for:
  • Experience supporting people with learning difficulties in a social care setting
  • Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or actively working towards)
  • A strong caring nature to support others to live an enriched life and fulfill their potential
  • A working knowledge and understanding of the Care Council for Wales Code of Practice
  • Flexibility to work shifts and provide cover as required
  • A full driving license - essential and happy to travel for meetings and training
  • Access to your own car and happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities, as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 45p per mile to cover this
