Job summary

Plymstock School in Plymouth is seeking an experienced Assistant SENDCo to coordinate the running of the Alternative Provision Base and support students with complex needs.

You will work closely with the Inclusion Team and the SENDCo to monitor pupil progress, liaise with external professionals, and ensure safeguarding and welfare commitments are met. The role is full-time during term time (37 hours/week, 39 weeks/year) with a salary in the £24,918–£27,053 range.

Qualifications

• Significant experience of working with children.
• Experience of dealing with a range of student behaviours.
• Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with staff, parents, outside agencies and be able to foster good relationships and gain the confidence of young people.
• Ability to remain calm and measured in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the running of the Alternative Provision Base with the SENDCo and Inclusion Team.
• Support pupils' progress and achievement and link with external professionals as appropriate.
• Support safeguarding, DBS checks, and compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.
