Job summary

Trinity Academy St Edward’s in Barnsley is seeking an Assistant SENDCo to join our SEND team. The post is permanent, full-time (37 hours per week, term time only plus 13 days) and sits on the SO1 scale (points 23 to 25).

You will work to coordinate interventions and support strategies for students with SEND as part of a strong safeguarding framework. The successful candidate will contribute to transition work with feeder primaries, engage with a range of stakeholders, and play a key role in

As a Trust we were excited to have been chosen by the Department for Education as their approved sponsor to open a new secondary school to support the increasing population of Barnsley. In September 2021 Trinity Academy St Edward’s opened its doors to a founding cohort of Year 7 students from across the town.

We are looking for a passionate, committed, and driven colleague to become our Assistant SENDCo. This role is so rewarding and will allow the successful candidate to be innovative and to actively contribute to the support strategies for the students that need it the most. This role allows for triangulation between teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND team, and will enable the successful candidate to co-ordinate and lead on certain cases. There is a strong link between children with SEND and the need for strong child protection processes, this role comes with Deputy Designated Safeguarding duties and the successful applicant will be a key member of our safeguarding team. We want someone who is dedicated to children, has experience of leading innovative interventions and is knowledgeable about SEND and passionate to increase life chances. Primary colleagues should apply too, this role is integral to the transition work we do with our feeder primaries and to ensure children have a safe, efficient, and smooth transition to secondary school.
