HOURS: 36.25 hours per week (08:00 - 16:00), term time, plus 1 week (39 weeks in total)

This vital role requires an individual who will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, ensuring their well-being while adhering to school policies and the staff code of conduct. As Assistant SEND Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the best possible educational experience.

As Assistant SEND Co-ordinator, you will support the SENDCo and work alongside a team of HLTA’s and LSA’s to collaborate with staff, parents, and outside agencies. Your responsibilities will include supporting students with special educational needs, monitoring and reviewing SEND provision quality, ensuring the SEND Policy is effectively implemented, and assisting staff in maintaining high standards of provision.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working successfully with students/young people and their families
- A recognised qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN), such as a SENDCo qualification, or working towards one
- Experience working with children or young people with various special educational needs and disabilities
- Sound knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with staff, pupils, and external agencies
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Ability to establish relationships with students and their families
- The ability to organise, motivate, and inspire students
