About The Role

Are you ready to turn your passion for speciality coffee into craft? As an Assistant Roaster, you'll join the beating heart of Origin’s production team in beautiful Porthleven, Cornwall. You’ll be trained by our expert Head of Coffee, HeadRoaster and Quality team, gaining hands-on experience with commercial roasting equipment, roast profile management, and flavour development.

Whether it’s green coffee handling, machine maintenance, or joining cupping sessions, you’ll be a key part of bringing our coffee to life, from sourcing to the final cup. If you're excited to build a career in speciality coffee with one of the UK's leading roasters, this is your opportunity.

Please note:Our roastery operates Monday through Saturday, and although this is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week contract, weekend shifts are required as part of the role.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Operate and monitor our roasting machines safely and consistently
  • Handle and move green coffee safely and accurately
  • Follow roast schedules and adjust roast profiles as needed
  • flag and report profile issues to the senior roasting team
  • Keep roasting and cupping areas clean, tidy, and food safe
  • Support green coffee inventory and storage movements
  • Join regular cupping and QC sessions, offering sensory feedback
