As an Assistant Retail Manager, you will support the team in encouraging sales, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of stock presentation and store cleanliness.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Retail Manager to maximize sales through high standards of display, proper stock rotation, and accurate pricing of donated items.
- Keeping up-to-date with merchandising trends and competition.
- Maximizing Gift Aid income and overseeing the display and administration of bought-in goods to minimize stock loss.
- Engaging with customers and coaching volunteers and staff to promote donations, charity contributions, and loyalty scheme sign-ups.
- Engaging with the community to encourage repeat visits, donations, volunteer recruitment, and involvement.
- Supporting recruitment and management of volunteers, ensuring adherence to Marie Curie procedures and guidelines.
- Taking responsibility for store operations in the absence of the Retail Manager.
Key Criteria:
- Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion or clothing.
- Experience in cash handling and financial procedures, including sales record keeping.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first approach and tactful discretion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organizational skills and workload prioritization.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures in retail.
- Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable.
