Assistant Respiratory Physiologist (Band 4)
0.5WTE (18.75 hours a week) - Part time hours to be confirmed
We are looking for an assistant respiratory physiologist to work as part of a team led by Chief Respiratory Physiologist, that provides a timely, efficient, high quality, equitable and cost effective Respiratory Physiology Service to Croydon Health Services NHS Trust including Croydon Community Diagnostic Centers.
Work as an autonomous practitioner in the field of basic respiratory physiology undertaking a range of clinical diagnostic procedures. Working to national standards published by BTS and ARTP, provide spirometry, reversibility testing, FeNO, CO, pulse oximetry, and blood gas sampling and provide timely reports feedback and advice to medics and nursing staff. Alongside this the candidate will have an active role in the provision of outpatient respiratory polygraphy .
We are seeking someone experienced and fully autonomous in spirometry, with the ability to work under pressure, and prioritise your individual workload, as well as be able to work effectively within a team. Training can be provided for the other diagnostic tests if required.
The successful candidate will rostered to work initially at Croydon University Hospital site, with rotation to Purley War Memorial Hospital Community Diagnostic Center and Norbury Health Centre.
Due to increased demand and service expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised, enthusiastic and caring Assistant Respiratory Physiologist to join our team.
Work as an autonomous practitioner in the field of respiratory physiology undertaking a range of clinical diagnostic procedures. Working to national standards published by BTS and ARTP, provide spirometry, reversibility FeNO, CO, pulse oximetry. There will be training and development opportunities within the Sleep service.
You must be able to provide evidence of continuing professional development and have experience in a wide range of diagnostic respiratory investigations including plethysmography.
This post offers the opportunity to expand your skills in service delivery and quality assurance. Having successfully completed ARTP spirometry certification the post holder is expected to support other staff in completing nationally recognised qualifications in this skill.
Applicants who require further training and development, or those who are working towards gaining the qualification required may be considered at a lower grade.
Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.
CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home birthing team.
Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.
Our experienced district nursing teams, Allied Health Professionals and community matrons look after for people of all ages across Croydon and our Children’s Hospital at Home cares for children with long-term
conditions without them having to come to hospital.
