A children's advocacy organization in the UK is recruiting two Assistant Reporters. You will support Reporters in providing high-quality services to vulnerable children and families. Candidates should hold or be working towards an HNC or SVQ Level 3 and have experience or knowledge of the children's hearings system. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The role requires travel across various localities and the use of digital technology for hearings.
Due to the nature of these posts, there is a requirement to travel to, or be based in Localities across the central belt of Scotland*
The Children’s Hearings System provides an operational setting in which SCRA and our partner agencies work. The aim is to provide a safety net for vulnerable children and deliver tailored solutions which meet the needs of the individuals involved, while helping to build stronger families and safer communities.
Two Assistant Reporter posts are being recruited to in the Change Team within Programme Protect to support the implementation of the vision that Children and families will experience a quality, adaptable, rights respecting service delivered by an efficient, digitally enabled organisation.
You will assist Reporters in the provision of a high-quality service to children and families by engaging effectively and with sensitivity to ensure that service users are fully informed and supported throughout the hearings system process.
The successful candidate will be qualified to HNC or SVQ Level 3 or be willing to work toward the qualification and able to demonstrate the skills and competencies required to provide the best service to children and families. You will also be able to demonstrate significant work experience with SCRA and/or knowledge of the operation of the children’s hearings system. In addition, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience working with a wide range of people, demonstrating integrity and respect for others.
*Central belt Localities for these posts include Lanarkshire Dumfries & Galloway, North Strathclyde, South East and Glasgow.
Please note, there may be a requirement to work from a number of different Localities during the period of the contract depending on organisational need. Therefore, a driving licence and access to a car or access to suitable alternative transport to enable frequent travel to and, at times, between SCRA offices and hearing centres. SCRA’s travel and expenses policy will apply in these circumstances.
Candidates will be expected to attend face to face hearings and also use digital technology to deliver virtual hearings using our secure virtual platform (training will be provided), as well as utilising digital technology within SCRA’s Hearings suites.
