Full Job Description

As an Assistant Rental Manager at Alltruck, you will be responsible for managing all logistical aspects of the rental operation for a large, diverse fleet of commercial vehicles operated by a wide range of business clients. You will work to demonstrate a positive, can-do culture.

Working closely with the Vehicle Movements Coordinator, you will ensure our vehicles are delivered to clients in a "ready to rent" condition, meeting customer expectations every time.

We foster a culture where people can flourish. Therefore, motivating and developing your team is vital. Managing and supporting your team through effective 1:2:1 meetings, appraisals, and daily coaching will be key to your success.

This is a fast-paced environment requiring you to think quickly and influence others effectively.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Implement and monitor a robust 'Ready to Rent' and yard check process to ensure high vehicle readiness levels.
  2. Ensure all rental agreements have proper vehicle compliance evidence, signed rental agreements, and vehicle check sheets.
  3. Proactively negotiate customized solutions for rental requests, understanding customer needs while safeguarding company profitability and resources.
  4. Negotiate with suppliers for third-party resources, such as cross-hire vehicles, controlling costs and ensuring timely invoice processing.
  5. Assist in yard management to optimize space utilization.
  6. Address customer queries and complaints positively and effectively, challenging demands when necessary.
  7. Coordinate with the purchasing team to maintain adequate fuel stock and manage fuel orders.
  8. Support the Rental Desk Operative in planning scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to keep the fleet compliant.
  9. Monitor vehicle downtime, minimizing it by working with workshops, body shops, and third-party suppliers to ensure swift repairs.
  10. Collaborate across departments to support fleet disposals and replacements, ensuring fleet availability.
  11. Ensure all sundry trading costs are accurately accounted for and reconciled with the Accounts team.
  12. Understand how decisions impact the wider Alltruck team, maintaining a big-picture perspective.

You will need
  • Experience working within the commercial vehicle sector.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Full UK driving license.
  • Knowledge of driving/transport legislation and requirements to support the driving team.

This is a full-time, permanent role.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, including a 60-minute unpaid lunch break (42.5 hours per week).

Participation in Saturday rota systems may be required.
