You’ll be working outdoors in all weathers as part of our ranger teams, supporting our strategy to restore a healthy, beautiful, and natural environment. Your role will involve protecting and improving the health and wildlife richness of our countryside, preserving its benefits, and helping visitors experience and connect with conservation efforts.
Your training will combine mandatory week-long college blocks and online learning, with all expenses and travel paid. There may also be opportunities to visit other National Trust locations with overnight stays to broaden your experience.
Located at Dunham Massey, a 3,000-acre estate near Manchester, this role involves managing ancient trees, deer in a SSSI, restoring grasslands, and creating woodlands and wetlands. Aligned with the National Trust's 2025-2035 strategy, we aim to restore nature, promote equal access to heritage, and foster community engagement. Working with your mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship, you’ll develop skills and knowledge relevant to the Countryside Worker Level 2 standard.
You’ll attend and prepare for regular review meetings with your training provider, and be responsible for your own progression. Completion of mandatory e-learning, courses, and training is required.
