Job summary

Breedon Group plc is seeking an Assistant Quarry Manager to support the Quarry Manager at Leaton Quarry in Telford. The role focuses on day-to-day operations, safety leadership, and efficient production in a hands-on environment.

You will help monitor plant performance, ensure compliance with licences, and drive safety and environmental standards across a busy site. Expect collaboration within a dedicated team and varied daily challenges.

Qualifications

• Essential: Experienced in a quarry environment; proven ability to support a Quarry Manager in daily operations.
• Desirable: Geotechnical Level 4 and HSE Quarry Management qualifications; awareness of quarry regs and ACOPNVQ 4.
• IOSH or Supervising Safety knowledge is advantageous.

• Prioritise health, safety and environmental standards across the site.

Job description

As an Assistant Quarry Manager based at Leaton Quarry Telford, you enjoy working in a 'hands on' position supporting the Quarry Manager in efficiently managing a busy Quarry alongside a collaborative and dedicated team.

As Assistant to the Quarry Manager, you will take an active role in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective production of materials while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. From monitoring plant condition and performance to strategically extracting mineral, you'll help safeguard the site's ongoing capability. No two days will be the same in this dynamic and varied role.

This role is based on 48 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

As our Assistant Quarry Manager, you'll be responsible for certifying the Quarry is run in line with the operating licence, through statutory procedure checks and reporting. You will place high importance on safety and be key in driving forwards our standards of excellence in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Management.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential:

• Experienced working in a quarry environment
• Previous experience in a management position
• Flexible, proactive approach to establish high standards of work performance
• Ability to demonstrate proven experience with assisting with management of a large site
• Positive and hardworking

Desirable but not essential:

• Geotechnical Level 4
• NVQ in HSE Quarry Management Level 4 (or equivalent)
• An understanding of Quarry Regs & ACOPNVQ in HSE Quarry Management Level 4 (or equivalent)
• An understanding/working towards IOSH or Supervising Safety
