Job summary

Wates Smartspace in Leamington Spa is seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, supporting a portfolio of planned works across social housing refurbishment. The role involves working with a Project QS, Senior QS and other assistants on retrofit, kitchens and bathrooms, windows and doors, providing exposure to subcontractor management, valuations and cost reporting.

You will contribute to CVRs, payments, cost monitoring and project documentation using

Qualifications

• Experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role.
• Exposure to subcontractor management, valuations or cost reporting.
• Strong Excel and IT skills, with the ability to work confidently across multiple systems.
• Commercially aware with a keen eye for detail.
• Confident communicator who is comfortable challenging where necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the evaluation of subcontractor applications, valuations and variations.
• Support the preparation and management of CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations).
• Process subcontractor payments and maintain commercial records.
• Help monitor project costs and commercial performance across multiple workstreams.
• Produce and maintain accurate project documentation using SharePoint and internal systems.
• Support monthly reporting and commercial forecasting activities.
• Attend site visits when required to support project delivery teams.
