Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for social housing, planned works and retrofit programmes across the West Midlands. Based around Birmingham, you will support projects with experienced Surveyors and operational teams, with clear progression toward QS level.

You should have some Quantity Surveying experience in social housing or retrofit and be keen to develop further within a major construction and regeneration business. A relevant qualification is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Some previous Quantity Surveying experience within social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment or retrofit.
• Experience in planned maintenance, kitchens & bathrooms, external works, roofing, refurbishment or retrofit.
• A Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management qualification would be advantageous.

Job Description Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing / Retrofit West Midlands | Birmingham / M5-M6 Corridor | £35,000 - £45,000 + Package

We are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join an established commercial team delivering social housing, planned works and retrofit programmes across the West Midlands. Based from the Birmingham area, you'll support projects throughout the western side of the region and work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and operational teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant QS who already has some relevant experience and wants to build a long-term career within a major construction and regeneration business.

The Role

• Preparing valuations and applications
• Processing subcontractor payments
• Cost monitoring and reporting
• Managing variations
• Site measurement
• Forecasting
• Commercial administration
• Supporting monthly CVRs
• Attending site and commercial meetings
• Assisting with final accounts

You will work closely with the wider Commercial and Operational teams and be given increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

Your Background

The ideal candidate will have some previous Quantity Surveying experience within social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment or retrofit.

Previous high-rise retrofit exposure would be particularly interesting, although it isn't essential. You should have good numerical and commercial skills, be comfortable dealing with subcontractors and have the ambition to continue developing towards Quantity Surveyor level. A relevant Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management qualification would be advantageous.

This isn't a role where we want an Assistant QS to remain an Assistant QS indefinitely. We're looking for somebody who wants to learn, take responsibility and progress. You'll be joining an established commercial structure where you can gain experience across increasingly complex projects and develop towards managing your own schemes.

Salary & Package

£35,000 - £45,000 + package, dependent upon experience. The role will be based around Birmingham, covering projects throughout the surrounding West Midlands region.
