Overview

Vertical Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a leading Construction Consultancy renowned for delivering high-quality Cost and Project Management services across a wide range of sectors. Their portfolio includes exciting projects with high-profile clients such as BAE Systems and the Ministry of Defence, as well as schemes in education, healthcare, commercial fit-outs, and refurbishments.

Due to continued growth, the team is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain experience on major Defence and commercial projects, with clear progression and support towards chartership.

The Role

You'll work closely with Senior QSs and Project Managers, supporting the delivery of a variety of projects from early cost planning through to final account.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, tender documents, and contract administration
  • Supporting the management of budgets, valuations, and cost reporting
  • Attending client meetings and site visits to track project progress
  • Helping to ensure compliance with contract terms (NEC / JCT) and industry standards
  • Collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and clients to support smooth project delivery
  • Working towards taking ownership of smaller schemes with increasing responsibility over time
About You
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related subject
  • Some industry experience in a consultancy or client-side role (placement year or post-grad)
  • Familiarity with NEC or JCT contracts is beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Keen to learn, develop, and progress within a structured and supportive environment
  • Ambition to become chartered (MRICS) - full APC support will be provided
