Job summary

Bellway plc in Milton Keynes is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support project surveyors and manage commercial aspects of developments.

You will report to the Commercial Director, work on tender packs, payments, and sub-contractor orders, travel within the division, and contribute to delivering quality homes with an emphasis on accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a residential house builder.
• HNC/HND in Building Studies or equivalent.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above; COINS knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Produce tender packs, chase returns and analyse returns.
• Produce sub-contract payments and final accounts with sign-off.
• Prepare sub-contract orders with required documentation.
• Complete on-site measurements and assess payments to contractors.
• Attend meetings with construction and external contractors.
• Price customer extras and liaise with sales as needed.
• Assist Commercial Manager with land appraisal take-offs.

There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK's largest house builders. Our Northern Home Counties Division, located in Milton Keynes is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Division's Commercial department.

The Role

This role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor is responsible for working with project surveyors and help with the managing of the commercial aspects of each development.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will report to the Commercial Director.

Principal accountabilities of the role include:

• Produce tender packs, chasing returns and compiling analysis of returns.
• Produce sub-contract payments and final accounts, ensuring that the sub-contractor has signed these off.
• Produce sub-contract orders, ensuring they are authorised by the authorised representative, together with all necessary documentation to comply with Group Commercial Policy.
• Complete on-site measurements and assess payments to contractors.
• Attend and contribute to various meetings, such as pre-order meetings, project review meetings with construction team as well as external contractors.
• Price customer extras and liaise with sales department as necessary.
• Assist the Commercial Manager with take-off's for land appraisals when required

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

Experience of working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a residential house builder.

• HNC/HND in relevant Building Studies
• GCSE Grade C/4+ or equivalent in English and Maths

The Role and Working Conditions

• Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked
• Office based role, with travel within the Divisional area
• Ability to travel to development sites as and when required
