Job summary

Aureos is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in Dungeness. You will support the Commercial team in delivering profitable projects, managing cash flow and ensuring accurate reporting across schemes.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will assist with asset pricing, CVRs, cost-to-complete, and subcontract administration while developing your expertise within the Aureos Highways Business Unit.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cost control and commercial reporting.
  • Understanding of sub-contract cycles and CVRs.
  • Knowledge of forecasting, pricing of variations, and change control processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Commercial Manager and project teams to ensure profitability, cash management, cost control and accurate reporting for schemes.
  • Submit applications for payment and manage credit processes.
  • Contribute to cost-to-complete forecasts and cost value reconciliations with support.
  • Review site records, attend progress meetings and assist with monthly financial performance reports.

Aureos is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in Dungeness.

Working within Aureos Highways Business Unit, and forming a part of the Commercial team, the Quantity Surveyor plays an integral part in delivering exceptional commercial results. Core responsibilities encompass project delivery, commercial reporting and maximising profit.

With sustainable growth in mind, our Assistant Quantity Surveyor is responsible for assisting the commercial team in completing and maintaining well organised records, contribution to the timely production of applications for payment and accurate project reporting and independently able to run minor works projects and frameworks.

Primary tasks and duties

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will assist the commercial team in providing support to the contract delivery team to ensure the profitability, cash management, cost control and accurate reporting of all schemes. Your role will require you to:

  • Capably submit applications and control credit processes
  • Understanding of income forecast and pricing of variations
  • Understanding of the change control system
  • Understanding of project risk
  • Production of cost value reconciliation (CVRs) with support
  • Produce cost to complete with supportUnderstanding the production of forecasting data
  • Understanding the costing process
  • Understanding the management of the full sub-contract cycle and input into sub-contract documentation.
  • Assisting with weekly cost to complete/budget reviews with the contract delivery teams.
  • Upload documentation as and when necessary, in line with business requirements.
  • Review weekly site records including allocation sheets and site diaries.
  • Attend project progress meetings.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial performance reports.
  • Gain experience outside of the commercial function to better understand the role of the business and the quantity surveyor within the business.
Secondary tasks and duties

  • Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met
  • Manage commercial performance against business targets and KPI’s
  • Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement
  • Promote a culture of integration, continuous improvement and use of best practice across the client base
  • Assisting with the use of key lean tools to drive efficiencies and reduce waste
  • Encourage, support and assist with the delivery of successful collaborative planning with the contract delivery teams
  • Commitment to their own professional development, and that of others across the Business Unit
  • Other tasks appropriate to the role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor, as identified by the Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager.

Expectations

Targets for the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be set and reviewed on a 6 monthly basis, aligned with the responsibilities and behaviours listed within this job description. The section below will be used to record key targets, which will align with Performance Reviews undertaken via the current Group process. The Assistant Quantity Surveyor is expected to:

  • Independently contribute to prompt payment of sub-contracts and maintenance of sub-contract liabilities and other trackers
  • Complete and well organised records
  • Contribute to the timely production of Cost and value reconciliations.
  • Maintain a professional development log and commit to continuous improvement.
