Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Construction Interiors & Refurbishment

£30k - £40k (Dependent on Experience) | Additional Benefits | Potential Travel Allowance / Pension / Healthcare

The Company

My client is a leading Main / Principal Interiors Contractor, providing products and services to create high-end luxury interior environments in the High-End Residential, Leading Hotels, and Restaurants throughout the UK. They focus on winning complex and interesting projects covering all aspects of construction, major structural adaptations, cut & carve extensions before refurbishing and fitting out to the very highest standards.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor Role

They are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor whose main purpose is to actively assist with the implementation of all commercial aspects of projects. This involves working closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor and the site delivery team, while continuing to learn and develop your understanding of all project aspects through daily involvement.

Other duties include:

1. Assist the commercial team in implementing work-winning strategies during procurement.
2. Identify risks and opportunities.
3. Engage with subcontractors, including assisting with tender enquiries.
4. Support Project Procurement in accordance with the delivery programme.
5. Assist in implementing the Tender Event Schedule.
6. Prepare Tender Documentation.
7. Analyze tender returns and participate in negotiations, including proposing subcontractor selections.
8. Prepare Sub-Contract Orders for selected trade packages.

The Successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Requirements include:

• Knowledge of the construction process, including both new build and fit-out/refurbishment.
• Experience in the roles and responsibilities listed above.
• Degree qualification or NVQ, BTEC, or Higher equivalent.
• 1 to 3 years full-time experience in a surveying role with a reputable main/principal contractor.
• Good knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
