Job summary

United Infrastructure is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Water team, contributing to nationally significant infrastructure projects shaping the UK’s future. You will support the commercial team across the full lifecycle, including NEC-based contract management, subcontractor negotiations, and cost reporting.

You'll conduct risk assessments, perform site visits for AFP and subcontract evaluations, and deliver timely budget and change reporting.

Qualifications

• 3 A-levels minimum BCC grade.
• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
• Any Level 4 related qualification is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Basic understanding of standard methods of measurement.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial team across the full lifecycle from contract negotiation to cost reporting.
• Contract management in line with NEC 3/4 Options A, B & E.
• Subcontractor negotiations, payments, forecasting and performance tracking.
• Project risk management and day-to-day risk reviews.

• Deliver accurate and timely budget, cost and change reporting.
• Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliation and Earned Value reports with robust documentation.

As part of a dynamic, fast-growing division, you'll be at the heart of nationally significant infrastructure projects that will shape the UK’s future.

What You’ll Be Doing

• As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you’ll be responsible for supporting the commercial team and contributing towards its success across the full lifecycle of each project — from contract negotiation to cost reporting. You will be supporting:
• Contract management in line with NEC 3/4 (Options A, B & E)
• Subcontractor negotiations, payments, forecasting and performance tracking
• Project risk management, reviewing day-to-day project risks
• Site visits for monthly AFP, sub-contract assessments
• Deliver accurate and timely budget, cost, and change reporting
• Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliation and generate Earned Value Analysis reports, whilst maintaining robust commercial documentation

Qualifications

• 3 A-levels at minimum BCC grade
• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at 9-4 (grade C or above), including Math, English, and ideally a Science
• Any previous Level 4 related qualification or equivalent discipline is advantageous
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel
• Basic understanding of standard methods of measurement
• Familiarity with the construction industry
