Job description

Options Resourcing are working with one of the UK's most project diverse construction companies to find a permanent position for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor required for a prestigious project in Exeter. Ideally, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will have previous experience with student accommodation or high-rise residential projects, which would be highly desirable.


As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  1. Assisting with measurements and take-offs from drawings.
  2. Helping prepare bill of quantities and tender documentation.
  3. Supporting the quantity surveyor in preparing cost reports, valuations, and payment applications.
  4. Attending site meetings to observe and take notes.
  5. Managing invoices, delivery notes, and subcontractor queries.
  6. Assisting with the management and overseeing all cost management aspects of the project, from inception to completion.
  7. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

A day will typically include managing all commercial and financial aspects of our client's high-profile contract and being responsible for the commercial team to ensure effective cost control as well as value for money from the supply and subcontract chain and timely delivery of the project.


Requirements:

  1. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Professional membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent is desirable.
  3. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control processes, and procurement strategies.
  4. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  5. Proven, demonstrable ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Proficient in relevant software tools.
